A peninsula of possibilities
From West, explore Scarborough and Kommetjie on the Atlantic side, or discover Fish Hoek, Muizenberg, Simon's Town and Boulders along False Bay. Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope offer wild coastal scenery to the south.
The brochure includes an orientation map. Use live navigation for routes and check current access before setting out.
Walk into the wild
Follow a trail through fynbos, pause above a turquoise bay or explore a quiet coastal road. National park landscapes and open ocean bring a sense of space to the day.
Guided nature walks reveal flowers, birds and details that are easy to miss. Responsibly led foraging may be arranged only where permitted. Take your time, leave plants and marine life where you find them, and let curiosity lead.
Wild encounters
Look beyond the beaches to discover wildlife among the fynbos and along the mountain slopes. Observe quietly, give animals space and allow each encounter to unfold naturally.
A flash of colour beside a trail, a bird among the flowers or a miniature world in a rock pool can be as memorable as a sweeping view. Explore gently with a local guide and leave the landscape as you found it.
Out on the water
Set sail on False Bay or discover the coast from the water with a local operator. Mountain backdrops, sea air and the possibility of seasonal whale sightings make each outing different.
Watch for dolphins, seabirds and seals along the shore. Wildlife encounters are always on nature's terms and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Beach days
Wander Scarborough's beautiful, largely unspoilt beach, or arrange surfing and kiteboarding lessons in the wider area. Choose an experience that suits your ability and the day's conditions.
Choose swimming spots with local advice. Take time for long walks, shared adventures and the simple pleasure of salt air.
A Boulders day out
Visit the African penguins at Boulders near Simon's Town. Enjoy the designated viewing areas and, where conditions and access allow, a swim at the neighbouring beach.
Penguins may pass nearby in the water. Give them space, avoid disturbing resting birds and enjoy the moment.
Coastal roads & active days
Ride a coastal road with the ocean beside you, learn to catch the wind with a kiteboarding lesson, or pause at a lighthouse on a leisurely Peninsula drive. Cycling, surfing and kiteboarding experiences can be arranged to suit your interests and ability.
Balance active days with time to stop, look closely and enjoy the scenery. Weather and sea conditions guide what is possible.
A day offshore
For keen anglers, a deep-sea fishing trip adds another dimension to a stay at West. Ask your hosts about arranging an outing with a local operator, subject to season, availability and sea conditions.
The slower days
Linger over coffee in the village, enjoy local restaurants and discover craft breweries in the surrounding area. Pick up fresh and organic produce from local suppliers, then let the afternoon take its own course.
At home, a private chef can prepare a relaxed lunch or a special dinner overlooking the Atlantic. Small retreats, yoga, Pilates and time to reset can be arranged around your stay.
Come home to West
Return to ocean views, shared meals and unhurried evenings. On clear nights, look up to starlit skies. Russ and Marion invite you to explore the Peninsula from a place they know and love.
West is available for exclusive use, with five en-suite bedrooms for up to ten guests. Experiences and private chefs are arranged separately, subject to availability, weather and conservation rules.
